Overview
This Privacy Policy applies to the Service Today website, booking flow, and any communications you receive from us (collectively, the “Service”). By using the Service you confirm you have read and understood this policy.
We operate under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020and the thirteen Information Privacy Principles (IPPs). Where we act as an “agency” under the Act, we comply accordingly.
Information we collect
We collect only the information needed to dispatch a hero and run the platform:
- Contact details— name, phone number, email and the address where you’d like a plumber dispatched.
- Job details — what the issue is, photos you attach, urgency level and any access notes.
- Payment information — handled by our payment processor; we do not store full card numbers on our servers.
- Account information — if you sign in as a hero, your licence number, insurance details, certifications and trade history.
- Device & usage data — IP address, browser type, pages visited and actions taken on the site (see Cookies below).
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Match you with a verified Auckland plumber (a “hero”).
- Confirm bookings, send dispatch updates and follow-up notifications.
- Process payments and provide receipts.
- Investigate and resolve complaints, disputes or insurance claims.
- Improve the platform and respond to your support requests.
- Meet our legal, tax and regulatory obligations in New Zealand.
We will not use your details to send marketing communications unless you have opted in, and you can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link in our emails.
Storage & retention
Your information is stored on servers operated by reputable cloud providers. We retain personal information for as long as you have an active account, or for as long as we need it to provide the Service and meet our legal obligations (typically 7 years for financial records).
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. This includes encryption in transit (HTTPS), restricted access to systems, and regular security reviews. No system is perfect; if we ever become aware of a breach that may affect you we will follow the notification requirements of the Privacy Act 2020.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you.
- Request access to that information.
- Request correction of information that is wrong or out of date.
- Withdraw consent for marketing communications.
- Make a complaint to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner if you believe we have not handled your information properly.

Children
The Service is not directed at children under sixteen (16). We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us their information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top tells you when it last changed. Material changes will be communicated by email or via a notice on the site before they take effect.
